What is Herpes?
Herpes, also called Herpes Simplex is an infection caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus, of which there are 2 types. Type 1 and 2. Both can cause several distinct medical disorders.
– First of all, they can cause oral herpes. This leads to infections in the face and around the mouth, causing a sore throat. It may also result in groups of small blisters, called cold sores.
– Next up, herpes can cause blisters and ulcers around the genitals. This is called genital herpes, which may last for 2-4 weeks, causing tingling and shooting pains.
– Furthermore herpes may also affect someone’s hands, eyes and brain. You don’t need to be a doctor, to know that this last two can lead to serious complications. Ultimately causing blindness, permanent brain damage or worse.
